Our Paws and Hands sponsorship program is a response to the great need we continually experience as a rescue that extends its help to dogs who truly need rescuing. Some dogs are younger, with life-threatening illnesses that require expensive emergency care and follow-through. Others are seniors or chronically ill dogs who would have been euthanized if NB had not taken them in.
Some Paws and Hands dogs will eventually recover and go on to forever homes. Others (seniors/chronically ill dogs) may stay in our foster homes for the course of their lives. Either way, NB is commited to the ongoing care of these little souls for as long as they need.
Why do we take on Special Needs Dogs with major expenses?
A big part of our mission is to use our abilities and funding to help dogs who would otherwise likely not receive the care they truly need, or even possibly be euthanized because of expenses that would be incurred to care for them. We want to continue this mission...we will always need your help. Animals have no voice in what happens to them. New Beginnings recognizes that rescues and shelters are the only voice for animals in need. To allow a dog to suffer or die because no one will try on its behalf seems to us very, very wrong.
New Beginnings is so proud to report that the majority of our past special needs dogs are now in Forever homes and are a joy and inspiration to their adoptive families. We know their adoptive families are glad we gave these dogs a chance at a happy life...that is what rescue truly is!
How does it work?
As a sponsor, you are donating an amount of your choosing to a special needs dog of your choosing. Once that dog's costs are covered, you have the option to continue your sponsorship for another Paws and Hands dog, or stopping the sponsorship. We also offer options: you can choose to make a one-time donation for one or more Paws and Hands dogs, or you can choose to make a regular monthly or weekly donation until the dog's medical costs are met. You can also make a general donation to the Paws and Hands program as a whole. Which ever way you choose, you are helping us help dogs who desperately need it! You will then be able to return to our Paws and Hands webpage to find progress posts on the dog or dogs you are sponsoring, or just keep track of our Paws and Hands program as a whole. We want you to know that 100% of money donated to the Paws and Hands program will go toward the medical care costs of the dogs in the program, and your donations are tax deductible.
